This Regulation prescribes the procedure and method for authorizing official and reference laboratories for the analysis of food and feed, the conditions to be met by the official and reference laboratories for food and feed when performing analysis of samples taken by the official controllers, official duties of the reference laboratories, as well as the list of areas that need to authorize the reference laboratories. The official laboratory is a separate legal entity or organizational unit within the legal person where are performed the analysis of food and feed for the purpose of official controls. The Annexes I-III are an integral part of this Regulation.
