This Decree approves the Regulation on Seeds. The Regulation, consisting of 10 Chapters and 8 Annexes, aims at guaranteeing the production and commercialization of quality seeds and planting material, in order to develop the agriculture production within the country. It applies to formal producers, processing, supplier and sellers, for both national or international production, including imports, and regulates the competencies of the National Authority of Seeds, the registry and variety authorization requirements, seed and planting material production, quality control and certification, seed processing, trade, import and export of seeds, inspection, taxes and penalties to be paid for illegal activities. Annexes list the model forms and plant variety registration requirements.
