This Complementary Law, consisting of IX Chapters, establishes the Environmental Code within the State of Mato Grosso. This Code regulates the State normative basis for Environmental Policy, subject to the following principles: government action in maintaining the ecological balance, considering the environment as a protected public asset for collective use; management of environmental resources and guidelines for sectoral plans, monitoring and evaluation; development and implementation of mechanisms to ensure the integration of specific bodies in achieving the objectives of environmental policy; consideration of the availability of environmental resources; environmental resources and activities performed in the territory; rational use of the soil, subsoil, water, fauna, flora and air; scientific and technological development through incentives to research on technology for the rational use and protection of environmental resources; rehabilitation of degraded areas; environmental education and community awareness, aiming to enable participation in environmental protection.
