This Law prescribes the correct manner of acquisition and legal protection of geographical indications on the territory of the Republic of Serbia (including the classification and administrative issues, data collection rules and additional report requirements). The territory of the Republic of Serbia is officially registered under the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of names of Origin and their International Registration ("Lisbon package"). The provisions of this Law shall not apply to wine and spirits and other alcoholic beverages (products covered by special regulations). Geographical indications are used for marking of natural, agricultural, food and industrial products, domestic products and services. The Law is divided into XIII Chapters and 87 articles, including all offences and related penalties.
