Joint Statement on Climate Change between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of India.

In the joint statement, the world’s two biggest developing countries emphasized that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol are the most appropriate framework for international cooperation for addressing climate change. The joint statement also says a global climate deal must be in full accordance with the principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities, which calls for the leadership of developed countries in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing the necessary finance, technology and capacity building support for developing countries to tackle climate change. The two sides decided to work together and with other countries to achieve a comprehensive, balanced, equitable and effective agreement under UNFCCC in 2015. Both sides will submit their plans to curb emissions well in advance of the UN summit taking place in Paris at the end of 2015. In addition, the two sides agreed to further promote bilateral partnership on climate change, and decided to further strengthen practical bilateral cooperation in areas of clean energy technologies, energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable transportation including electronic vehicles, low-carbon urbanization and adaptation.
