This Chapter of Division 3 of the Water Code of California concerns inspection and approval of new dams and reservoirs (including enlargement) in the State by the Department of Water Resources. Immediately upon completion of a new dam or reservoir or enlargement of a dam or reservoir, the owner shall give a notice of completion to the Department in the manner as specified. As soon as practicable the completed dam or reservoir shall be inspected by the Department, which shall issue a certificate of approval. The Chapter also concerns removal of dams and reservoirs.
