Proclamation to declare the Trou d'Eau Douce Reserve as a marine protected area and to designate it as a fishing reserve (No. 27 of 2000).

This Proclamation of the President of the Republic of Mauritius, made under section 7 of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Act 1998, declares the Trou d'Eau Douce Fishing Reserve to be a Marine Protected Area and designates it as a Fishing Reserve to be known as the Trou d'Eau Douce Fishing Reserve. Section 7(1) allows any area of Mauritius waters including the seabed underlying such waters, any land associated with Mauritius waters or any wetland, to be declared a Marine Protected Area, whereas section 7(2) allows a Marine Protected Area to be designated as a Fishing Reserve, a Marine Park or a Marine Reserve.
