The Act is formulated in order to prevent and mitigate adverse impacts of development activities so as to attain the goal of environmental protection. The Act consists of 32 articles divided into 4 Chapters: General Provisions (I); Assessment, Review and Supervision (II); Penal Provisions (III); Supplementary Provisions (IV). For reviewing the EIA report, the competent authorities at various levels shall set up the Environmental Impact Assessment Review Committees.
