This Law authorizes the creation of the State Programme for the Environmental Preservation of the Port Zone of the State of São Paulo. The objectives of the programme are aimed at raising the awareness of the resident population about the environmental aspects related to the port activity, contemplating, at least: information on the social and environmental impacts of port activities; information on the marine and coastal environment; strategies for the prevention of factors that affect public health; accident and risk prevention strategies; capacity building of local facilitators. The actions will be implemented by the state bodies and entities involved in this sector, in partnership with the port concessionaires and local public administrations, subject to their respective competencies and governing legislation.
