This Measure of the Commission of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO) provides with respect to fishing for exploratory bottom fishing for toothfish (Dissostichus spp.) in selected areas of the Convention Area by an EU vessel. This shall be done on a precautionary and gradual basis according to the best available science and shall meet specified objectives. The European Union shall designate the vessel(s) authorised to undertake fishing pursuant to this Measure. Various obligations are imposed on such vessel(s) with respect to protection of marine mammals, seabirds, turtles, and other species of concern, monitoring and data collection.
