This Resolution approves in Annex the National Strategy for Invasive Exotic Species. The aim of the Strategy is to guide the implementation of measures to prevent the introduction and dispersal and significantly reduce the impact of invasive alien species on Brazilian biodiversity and ecosystem services, control or eradicate invasive alien species. It provides strategic direction for the management of invasive alien species in Brazil for a period of 12 years, until 2030. Priority actions defined for each component are detailed in the Implementation Plan that integrates the National Strategy. The National Strategy will be updated in a mid-term review, when a new Implementation Plan will be designed and the National Strategy document can be revised if deemed necessary, in order to reflect the advances made in the period. The components of this Strategy are focused on invasive alien species that threaten or impact biological diversity, including species at risk of being introduced into the country from national borders, through the ocean or through the arrival of important vectors and dispersal routes such as trade, transport and tourism. Although the document addresses the issue from an environmental perspective, with specificity for invasive alien species that threaten biological diversity, an integrated vision will be needed to combat invasive alien species that also cause economic and health damage.
