The purpose of this Agreement is to ensure the safety of agricultural production and people's health across the Taiwan Strait, and promote the development of agricultural product trade across the Taiwan Strait. Both parties agree to strengthen cooperation and exchange in quarantine and inspection based on the principle of mutual trust and reciprocity, and to resolve through negotiation quarantine and inspection issues in agricultural product (including feed) trade, prevent the spread of harmful organisms in animals and plants, and ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products. Both parties further agree: to establish a verification and confirmation mechanism for quarantine and inspection certification documents to prevent forgery and counterfeiting of certificates; to promptly report information on major epidemics and safety and health incidents in imported and exported agricultural products.
