Austrian Action Plan for Sustainable Public Procurement (naBe).

The naBe Action Plan is an Austrian federal initiative that mandates all federal ministries, subordinate institutions, and assigned legal entities to procure goods, services, and construction projects sustainably. These sustainable procurements must meet the core criteria outlined in the Action Plan for Sustainable Public Procurement. The plan aims to harmonize criteria for sustainable procurement across different levels and entities. Austria aims to further solidify and strengthen its leading position in sustainable public procurement within the European Union through the naBe Action Plan. It defines sustainable, seasonal, and regional public procurement as the acquisition by public contracting authorities that adhere to principles of thriftiness, cost-effectiveness, appropriateness, environmental suitability of the service, and follows the principle of best value while ensuring compliance with social standards in the production or provision of services. In second part of the text different categories of the goods and services are listed including Consumable Products & Events; Durable Products & Capital Goods; and Structural Facilities. Part 6 of the text provides for specifications for the procurement of food and catering services.
