This Act is enacted for the recognition of indigenous status and the protection of indigenous rights. Individuals who meet the provisions prescribed in Articles 2 to 4, shall acquire indigenous status. Indigenous persons should register their indigenous groups according to the indigenous groups of one of their parents, the traditional indigenous name or surname adopted should correspond to the indigenous group registered. The central competent authority of indigenous peoples shall issue regulations for the recognition, registration, alteration, or other related matters of the indigenous groups(art.9).
