This Act amends the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 1996 (principal Act). In section 2 of the principal Act, clauses (c) and (f) are amended. Section 5 of the principal Act is substituted which lays down the duty of owner and occupier to collect, segregate and store non-biodegradable garbage. A new section 5A is inserted which lays down penalty for contravention of section 5, and includes fine and/or imprisonment. In section 8 of the principal Act, sub-section (1) is amended.
