Law No. 11.447 creating the Fish Restocking Programme in Dams of Hydroelectric Power Plants and Small Hydroelectric Power Plants in the State of Mato Grosso.

This Law creates the Fish Restocking Programme in Dams of Hydroelectric Power Plants and Small Hydroelectric Power Plants for the conversion of environmental fines resulting from fish mortality due to the activities of hydroelectric power plants and small hydroelectric power plants in reservoirs within the state of Mato Grosso, for the benefit of the environment. The programme will consist of restocking fish in the dams of hydroelectric power plants and small hydroelectric power plants for violators of environmental fines resulting from fish mortality, with monitoring, follow-up and evaluation by the State Secretariat for the Environment (SEMA/MT). The programme aims to increase the reproduction of various species of fish in private and public reservoirs in the state of Mato Grosso, making it possible to balance the environment and generate income for riverside populations. In carrying out and managing fishing activities, the ecological balance, the conservation of aquatic organisms and the carrying capacity of fishing environments must be ensured, by observing the following principles: the preservation and conservation of biodiversity, and compliance with the social and economic function of fishing, in accordance with art. 3 of Law No. 9.096 of 16 January 2009, which provides for the Fisheries Policy in the State of Mato Grosso.
