Regional Multi-Hazard Planning Framework, 2022-2030.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has developed a Regional Multi-Hazard Planning Framework (RMHCPF) for 2022-2030 to strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanisms in the region. The policy aims to mitigate the impact of potential disasters on the population by establishing better preparedness and response measures. It consists of a Regional Multi-Hazard Planning Framework 2022-2030 accompanied by a Regional Multi-Hazard Contingency Plan 2022-2023. The policy is revised annually based on regional forecasts and contingency plans developed by Member States. The framework considers projected disaster risks, emerging dynamics, and issues that impact disaster risk identification, preparedness, response, coordination, and recovery. It emphasizes the need for integrated governance, economic growth, social cohesion, inclusive participation, knowledge building, and information exchange to address widespread institutional and community vulnerabilities.
