Having a need to create objective conditions with a view to maximizing the opportunities created by the Agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area, and under the provisions of Article 203(1)(f) of the Constitution of the Republic Constitution of the Republic, the Council of Ministers approves the National Strategy for the Implementation of the Agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area. Mozambique's strategic location on the southern east coast of Africa, with the third longest coastline in Africa at 2,700 kilometers, allows it to be a hub and economic center of reference as it has natural ports, with unavoidable trade links with many neighbouring countries (South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of Congo), especially those in the hinterland with a significant impact on the internationalization of national production and services in the global market. The Agreement establishes that States Parties must: (a) progressively eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade in goods; (b) progressively liberalize trade in services; (c) cooperate in the field of investment, intellectual property rights and competition policy; (d) cooperate in all areas related to trade; (e) cooperate in customs matters and in the implementation of trade facilitation measures; (f) establish a mechanism for the resolution of disputes relating to rights and obligations; (g) establish and maintain an institutional framework for the implementation and administration of the AfCFTA.
