This Bulgarian Black Sea Basin Management Flood Risk Management Plan for the period from the year 2022 until the year 2027 has been developed in accordance with the requirements of Directive 2007/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment and management of flood risks, among the provisions of the national Water Act. The overall objective of this Plan is to manage flood risk and reduce the potential consequences, taking into account other benefits and impacts across a wide range of sectors, including human health, environment, cultural heritage and economic activities. The stages of development of this text are as follows: 1. Development of a Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment for each area of basin management; 2. Development of maps of the threat and risk of floods; 3. Development of flood risk management plans, including a program of measures, in order to reduce the risk of floods. The Flood Risk Management Plan considers all aspects of flood risk management, reporting the characteristics of the specific river basin and integrates aspects of environmental protection, ensuring a high level of its protection.
