This Policy provides for dissemination of hydro-meteorological data to the public from the government of India. The Policy is to be implemented by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB). The Policy describes the various data collected by the CWC and CGWB, including water quality, sediment flow, river water level, reservoir level, and the frequency of such data collected. The Policy classifies hydro-meteorological data intro three regional categories and the data users into two user categories. The Policy then lays down the procedure for release of classified and unclassified hydro-meteorological data.
