This Law establishes the Incentive Programme for the Development of Sustainable Fruit Growing within the State of Piauí (PIFS-PI). The Programme aims at coordinating activities related to the production, trade, industrialisation and consumption of fruit in the state of Piauí. The objectives of the Programme are: identify and register areas suitable for the development of fruit growing; encourage production, marketing, export and consumption of fruit; encourage the creation of regional distribution centres to improve marketing; implement research to improve quality, productivity and marketing methods; encourage partnerships between universities and institutes; conduct a socioeconomic survey and register input suppliers, producers, distributors, traders, and processors; encourage cooperatives and other forms of association in activities related to irrigation, the purchase of inputs, industrialisation and marketing to facilitate access to credit from financial institutions; promote environmental preservation by encouraging the adoption of sustainable fruit cultivation techniques; encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, etc.
