This Law establishes the State Policy for Development and Support of the Activities of Women Shellfish Gatherers and Artisanal Fisherwomen in Rio Grande do Norte. This Law considers an artisanal fisherwoman, an individual woman, who carries out professional fishing activities for commercial purposes independently or under a family economy regime, with her own means of production or through a partnership contract, and may operate unloaded or use a fishing vessel with a Gross Tonnage - AB less than or equal to 20. It is under the responsibility of the Public Authorities to encourage the creation of Cooperatives or Associations of Shellfish Gatherers and Artisanal Fisherwomen, with a view to fostering, through collective participation, the development of the activity.
