The ICCAT has extended and amended Recommendation 22-01, which replaced Recommendation 21-01, concerning the Multi-Annual Conservation and Management Programme for tropical tunas. Key provisions from several paragraphs will remain effective through 2024. The catch limit overage payback table is updated to include 2024 as a catch year and 2026 as the adjustment year. Catch limit adjustments for Contracting Party and Cooperating non‐Contracting Party, Entity, or Fishing Entity (CPCs) listed in Recommendation 16-01 will be based on their 2022 underages or overages, subject to existing quota restrictions. The closed season defined in paragraph 28 is revised to apply from 1 January to 12 March 2024 across the Convention area, with a review to be conducted based on scientific advice from the SCRS regarding catch trends and juvenile tuna proportions. Additionally, the Commission will review tropical tuna conservation and management measures in 2024.
