This Act establishes Grønlands Statistik as the central authority for statistical work in Greenland. Its purpose is to collect, process, and publish data to support social analysis, policy decisions, planning, and research. The institution also conducts methodological development, collaborates with data providers, and undertakes social science research relevant to Greenland’s economy, welfare, and demographics. A five-member board appointed by the government oversees its activities, sets long-term plans, and reports annually. Public authorities and private entities must provide necessary data upon request, while personal and business information must remain confidential. Failure to provide accurate or timely data may result in fines.
