The Resolution provides that Commission of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) adopts measures to systematically integrate climate change considerations into its conservation and management work. It will use scientific and socio-economic advice to assess climate change impacts on IOTC species, bycatch, associated ecosystems, and particularly on developing and Small Island Developing States, while promoting further research to inform mitigation and adaptation measures. The Scientific Committee, Working Party on Socio-Economics (WPSE), and other subsidiary bodies will include climate change as a standing agenda item, provide regular advice, and review their mandates to meet emerging scientific needs. The Secretariat will maintain a dedicated climate change webpage, implement capacity-building programmes—especially for developing coastal States—and seek funding to support related research and training.
