This Order determines a regime for the protection and regulated use of the Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum L.) within its natural habitats in Bulgaria. It sets out that the collection of leaf-stem mass for pharmaceutical purposes is permitted only in specified locations and must follow technical requirements regarding cutting height and the preservation of a percentage of the population to ensure habitat restoration. The regulation restricts the frequency of harvesting in the same areas and prohibits general mowing in these habitats during the flowering and seeding period. Administrative oversight is maintained through a permit system based on annual field assessments of the plant deposits conducted by expert commissions. The instrument bans the trade of specimens harvested in violation of these rules and specifies that the collection of bulbs or seeds for cultivation requires a separate specialized authorization. The attached Annex identifies sixteen specific protected sites and natural localities where these conservation and exploitation measures are strictly applied.
