This Law establishes the State Programme for the Development of Handicraft and Organic Production Associated with Tourism (Pró-Artesão) within the State of Mato Grosso. The Programme is aimed to ensure sustainable and integrated tourism development in the State, encourage the handicraft process and the maintenance of job and income generation, strengthen cultural traditions, provide better living conditions for the population and improve the capacity of the Public Authorities to manage actions for the sector. The Programme's guidelines are: valuing the identity and culture of Mato Grosso and promoting its handcrafted products nationally; expanding and renewing the state's artisanal and organic production; identifying and registering artisans and their artisanal and organic products, giving them greater visibility and social value; promoting the integration of artisanal and organic activity with other sectors and sustainable development programmes, especially tourism; encouraging the qualification of artisanal and organic production, the restoration of traditional techniques, and the improvement of production methods and processes; valuing and promoting products nationally and internationally; supporting commercialization through the organization of events, negotiation rounds, and points of exhibition and sale of products; seeking support from national and international, public and private entities for the development of the programme.
