This CMM establishes a framework for the collection, reporting, verification, and exchange of fisheries data to support scientific stock assessment and ecosystem-based management. It sets obligations for Contracting Parties and cooperating entities, including standardized formats for catch, effort, and observer data, mandatory reporting timelines, historical data submission, and the implementation of observer programmes, with harmonised coding systems based on FAO standards. The measure assigns responsibilities to States, the Secretariat, and the Scientific and Compliance Committees for data management, verification, and review, while also addressing confidentiality, data quality improvement, and compliance mechanisms.
