This Order sets quality requirements for environmental measurements and sampling used as the basis for public-authority decisions and monitoring under Danish environmental legislation, including rules on environmental protection, contaminated soil, chemicals, genetic technology, coastal protection, raw materials, marine protection, water supply, watercourses, ochre and water planning. It applies to chemical and microbiological measurements, measurements of radioactive substances in drinking water, sampling, noise measurements and noise calculations, as well as measurements used for groundwater, surface water, sediment and biota monitoring. The Order requires relevant measurements and sampling to be carried out as accredited technical testing by accredited laboratories, or in certain cases under specified quality-management systems, and sets detailed requirements on methods, detection limits, quantification limits, measurement uncertainty, internal and external quality control, proficiency testing, documentation, and certification of persons performing noise measurements. It also regulates recognition of professional qualifications obtained in other EU/EEA countries, and allows authorities to require documentation of compliance.
