This Order establishes a grant scheme for the Danish Nature Agency and municipalities to carry out feasibility studies and implement nitrogen wetland projects and lowland peatland restoration projects aimed at improving water quality, reducing nitrogen pollution, lowering greenhouse-gas emissions, restoring natural hydrology, and enhancing biodiversity. The scheme provides funding of up to 100% of eligible project costs, including studies, engineering work, landowner compensation, land consolidation, construction measures, and project administration. Projects are prioritised on the basis of cost-effectiveness and environmental benefits, with specific criteria relating to nitrogen reduction, CO₂-equivalent emission reductions, Natura 2000 conservation objectives, and catchment-area needs. Beneficiaries must obtain the necessary permits, register permanent land-use restrictions through servitudes, maintain restored wetlands or lowland areas, and comply with detailed reporting, monitoring, publicity, and audit requirements.
