This Resolution establishes the annual timber harvesting quota for 2026 with the objective of ensuring the sustainable exploitation of the country's forest resources. The Resolution is issued pursuant to the forestry legislation and implementing regulations governing forest management, and seeks to regulate the volume of timber that may be harvested during the year while maintaining the conservation and long-term availability of forest resources. The Resolution approves a detailed quota allocation system that sets harvesting limits by species class and by province, as specified in the annexed table forming an integral part of the instrument. The quotas cover different categories of timber species and establish the maximum volumes authorised for exploitation in each province during 2026. Through these province-specific and species-specific allocations, the Resolution provides the legal framework for controlling timber extraction and promoting the sustainable management of Mozambique’s forestry sector.
