This Order, made under subsections 88 (1) and 89(2) of the Impact Assessment Act, considers environmental impacts of carrying out of a project under one of the designated classes of projects involving petroleum products, allied petroleum products, water bodies, wetlands. The Order identifies categories of relatively low-impact projects, excluded from the federal impact-assessment requirements, and then identifies classes of routine, small-scale or low-risk projects for which the full federal environmental-effects determination process is unnecessary; establishes size, location and activity thresholds; retains environmental scrutiny for projects that could affect watercourses, wetlands, fish and fish habitat, species at risk, migratory birds, protected marine areas, or cultural and archaeological resources.
