Energy Strategy Liechtenstein 2020.

This Energy Strategy 2020 establishes Liechtenstein’s national energy policy framework and sets targets to improve energy efficiency, expand the use of domestic renewable energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Building on the objectives of the earlier Energy Concept 2013 and taking into account international climate and energy commitments, the strategy seeks to stabilize final energy consumption at 2008 levels, increase the share of indigenous renewable energy to 20 percent, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent compared with 1990 levels. The strategy identifies key measures in the areas of buildings, transport, industrial processes, energy production and procurement, including building renovation programmes, stricter energy standards, deployment of heat pumps, solar energy and biomass, promotion of public transport, and support for combined heat and power generation. It further provides for awareness-raising, municipal energy planning, improved energy statistics, and decision-support systems to facilitate implementation and monitoring. Responsibilities are assigned to national energy authorities and public utilities, with regular monitoring and periodic reviews envisaged to assess progress, ensure cost-effectiveness, and support achievement of the strategy's energy and climate objectives.
