This Agriculture and Cooperatives Development Plan 2023–2027 for Uthai Thani province articulates a vision of safe agriculture, stable incomes and environmental sustainability. It sets out three core missions: raising the quality and market alignment of agricultural production across supply chains; balanced and sustainable management of agricultural natural resources and environment; and use of local knowledge, technology and innovation to add value to agricultural products. The goals include producing high-quality standard agricultural goods with higher value, ensuring safe and continuous distribution of agricultural outputs to consumers, and conserving and restoring agricultural resources. The Plan details strategic issues and associated objectives: (1) upgrading safe agriculture and sustainable farming across the supply chain with certified production sites, networks among private, civil society and academic partners, a linked database from production to distribution, logistics improvements, and market linkage; (2) strengthening farmer groups and institutions based on the sufficiency economy philosophy, including support for PGS/organic transitions and development of Smart Farmer networks; (3) balanced and sustainable management of agricultural resources emphasizing soil and water conservation, expanding irrigated areas through participatory approaches, and reducing agricultural burning; (5) enhancing value of agricultural products through research on active compounds, promotion of GMP/food standards for processed goods, and modern marketing; (6) developing distinct local identity products and linking them to tourism and industry; and (7) raising herbal-city standards including training, certification, laboratory testing and market channels.
