The present Decree has been adopted with a view to guaranteeing the balance between biological resources and fishing efforts through a protection plan for aquatic resources for the year 2002. In particular, fishing with the methods defined by article 1 shall be interrupted. Article 2 lays down further details concerning the interruption throughout the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas, while article 3 regards the Tyrrhenian Sea. Fishing with the meshes specified by article 6 shall be forbidden on all biological protection areas created in implementation of Ministerial Decree of 16 June 1998.
