In compliance with the provisions laid down in Directive 2001/77/EC, this Legislative Decree aims at promoting an increase in the contribution of renewable energy sources to electricity production. In particular, it pursues the development of installations for electrical microgeneration from renewable sources. Article 2 defines renewable energy sources as renewable non-fossil energy sources, i.e. wind, solar, geothermal, wave, tidal, hydropower, biomass, landfill gas, sewage treatment plant gas and biogases. This text also identifies the renewable energy sources as energy deriving from non-fossil renewable energy (wind, solar, geothermal, wave motion, tidal, hydraulic, biomass, landfill gas, gas residues from purification and biogas processes). In particular for biomass means: the biodegradable part of products, waste and residues from agriculture (including vegetable substances and animals) and from forestry and related industries, as well as the biodegradable part of industrial and urban waste.
