These Regulations implement provisions of the Product Stewardship (Oil) Act 2000 which awards a grant to for the sale or consumption of recycled oil that have recycled in Australia. For subsection 10 (1) of the Act, regulation 4 specifies the amount of product stewardship (oil) benefit for a claim period in relation to recycled oil. However, no product stewardship benefit is payable in respect of oil that is to undergo further recycling before it is sold to the end user. The Schedule specifies re-refined base oil criteria for purposes of regulation 4. The criteria must be verified by a laboratory accredited, by the national laboratory accreditation body operating in the country where the laboratory is located, to perform the tests mentioned in the criteria.
