This Ordinance concerns the control of whaling within and outside of Hong Kong. The Ordinance prohibits the catching or treating of whales within the waters of Hong Kong and prohibits the killing or taking of certain categories of whales outside the waters of Hong Kong as specified in section 4. The Ordinance further prohibits the taking, towing or treating of whales outside the waters of Hong Kong unless in possession of a licence granted by the Secretary for Food and Health. The Ordinance also provides for powers of whale fishery inspectors and for regulation making powers of the Chief Executive in Council.
