The Decree, aiming at the prevention of oil pollution at sea, prescribes technical specifications related to the installation of oil-water separating equipment to ships carrying large quantities of fuel oil, in conformity with the Resolution A.444(XI) of the IMO-Marine Environment Protection Committee, under the international Convention for the prevention of pollution from ships, 1973 as modified by the Protocol of 1978 relating thereto (MARPOL 73/1978).
