This Act makes provision for the formation, registration, operation and management of cooperatives. The Act provides for: cooperatives principles; formation and types of cooperatives; registration of cooperatives; legal capacity and powers of cooperatives; members of cooperatives and their rights and liabilities; cooperatives’ rules; shares in cooperatives; operations of cooperatives; management and administration of cooperatives; cooperatives’ funds and property; restrictions on the acquisition of interests in trading cooperatives; mergers, transfer of engagements and winding-up; arrangements and reconstructions; foreign cooperatives; supervision and protection of cooperatives; offences and proceedings; etc.
