Resource reserve “Gerono” shall be classified as national nature reserve – protected area. Resource reserve “Gerono” shall perform the following functions: (a) preservation of unique natural complexes; (b) protection, replenishment and reproduction of wildlife resources, the preservation of the natural conditions of their habitat; and (c) organization of research and monitoring. The territory of the resource reserve shall be integral zone of the traditional nature management. The following traditional economic activities shall be authorized: haymaking, horse breeding, maintenance of traditional haymaking and grazing farms (sailyk); walking and horse-riding tourism without the right to hunt, accompanied by inspectors. Other authorized activities: (a) scientific research; (b) performance of required fire-fighting, sanitary and epidemiological arrangements; (c) rehabilitation activity in areas damaged by natural disasters or by unauthorized human activities; and (d) collection of specimen for scientific research purposes. The following activities shall be prohibited: (a) hunting, capture of wild fauna species, fisheries; (b) collection of berries and mushrooms; (c) transit and stay on the territory of the reserve without special authorization; (d) main use felling; and (e) any activity damaging the state of natural complexes or contrasting the objectives of resource reserve.
