This Recommendation of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), based on the latest available scientific information and the precautionary approach, requires Contracting Parties and Cooperating non-Contracting Parties, Entities or Fishing Entities (CPCs), whose vessels are actively fishing for albacore in the Mediterranean, to implement management measures for Mediterranean albacore starting in 2018. The objective of the Measure is preventing an increase of the fishing effort and of the catch level until the Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS) can deliver more accurate advice. Each CPC shall limit the number of their fishing vessels authorised to fish for Mediterranean albacore and there shall be a close season for albacore fishing.
