This Law establishes the State Policy for the acquisition of Family Farming Foodstuff (PAAFAMILIAR) aimed at family farmers and family farmers' organizations. The PAAFAMILIAR's objectives are: promote the organization and modernization of production and improve the flow of products from family farming; stimulate the production of family agriculture, contributing to the practice of adequate prices and expansion of the consumer market of its products; promote the acquisition of goods produced by family farming for purchases made by state public agencies; encourage the consumption of healthy, sustainable and value-based local and regional food crops; encourage the agroecological and organic transition of family and peasant agriculture to ensure the promotion of food and nutritional security and the preservation of the environment and water resources.
