This Regulation prescribes the methods and conditions for use, implementation of necessary traceability and labelling of genetically modified food and feed. Genetically modified food includes: genetically modified organisms intended for use in food; foods containing or consisting of genetically modified organisms; food produced from genetically modified organisms or containing ingredients produced from genetically modified organisms. Genetically modified animal feed includes: genetically modified organisms for use as animal feed; feedingstuffs containing or consisting of genetically modified organisms; animal feed produced from genetically modified organisms. Article 17 sets the penalty provisions. This text also provides for the form, content and manner for keeping the register of granted authorizations for the use of genetically modified organisms or products containing such organisms in closed systems. The Annex is also part of this text (containing full technical and administrative sheets and criteria lists).
