This Plan is formulated in accordance with the Wetland Conservation Act for the purpose of conservation and utilization of important Sicao Wetlands for the period of 2018-2043. The Objectives of the Plan are: to protect biodiversity; to strengthen partnership in management; to respect the traditional use of local residents for wetland and strengthen environmental education. The Document indicates that the wetland conservation and utilization plan should consider the livelihoods of local residents and integrate education into the surrounding landscape and communities and establish a mechanism for the benefits of wetland conservation to be shared by the community. Actions proposed by the Document include: construct the core ecological conservation area; continue to conduct ecological resource surveys, strengthen the monitoring of indicator species; Protect various ecosystems and habitats, including those of endangered species like Black-faced Spoonbill; forests and coastal rehabilitation; establish the water quality standards for the wetlands; integrate wetland conservation with flood and disaster prevention; expand social participation in wetland conservation and promote wetland environmental education.
