This Act amends the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (principal Act). Clauses (2) and (6) of section 2 of the principal Act are amended. Sections 4A, 4C, 4D, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are amended. Section 11 of the principal Act is omitted. Further, sections 12, 14, 14B, 14C, 14E, 14F ad 14G are amended to substitute the word holding for the words a plot of land. Various sections of Chapter IIB are amended. Chapter IV of the principal Act, containing sections 22 to 30, is substituted. In Chapter V, for the word holding, the words a plot of land are substituted. Sections 49, 50 and 50A are amended and a new section 50B is inserted. Section 51A is amended and new section 57A is inserted after section 57 of the principal Act.
