This Regulation incorporates into Union legislation the management, conservation, and control measures adopted by the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC), which are legally binding on the Union. The scope of this Regulation includes: (i) Union fishing vessels which operate in the Area; (ii) Union fishing vessels in the case of transshipments and landings of IOTC species outside the Area; and (iii) third-country fishing vessels making use of ports in Member States and which carry IOTC species or fishery products originating from such species. It lays down chapters on the management and conservation, protection of certain marine species, control measures, recording of catch and effort data, port state measures, inspection, enforcement and IUU fishing. Article 56 sets out the amendments to Regulations (EC) No 1936/2001, (EC) No 1984/2003, and (EC) No 520/2007.
