Recommendation by ICCAT on Continuing to Enhance the Dialogue Between Fisheries Scientists and Managers (Rec. 24-13).

The Standing Working Group on Dialogue between Fisheries Scientists and Managers (SWGSM) is established to improve communication and mutual understanding between managers and scientists, facilitating coordinated development and implementation of management measures on cross-cutting issues such as prioritizing Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS) work, management strategies, ecosystem approaches, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. SWGSM provides recommendations to the Commission and feedback to the SCRS while promoting shared understanding of management concepts like reference points, harvest control rules, and management strategy evaluation. The group also focuses on efficient scientific resource use, research prioritization, data enhancement, social-economic research, and climate action tracking. Co-chaired by a fisheries manager and a scientist, SWGSM meets intersessionally with balanced participation from Contracting Party and Cooperating non‐Contracting Party (CPC) managers and SCRS scientists, operates through open forums and formal sessions, and maintains a dynamic workplan guiding its ongoing activities.
