ICCAT Recommendation 24-16 establishes mandatory use of the Electronic Bluefin Tuna Catch Document (eBCD) system for all Contracting Parties and Cooperating non-Contracting Parties (CPCs). CPCs are required to submit necessary user registration data to the ICCAT Secretariat promptly to ensure system access. Paper Bluefin Catch Documents (BCD) are no longer accepted, except in limited circumstances specified in the recommendation. The recommendation outlines tagging, reporting, and verification requirements to ensure traceability, including special provisions for bycatch and dead or dying fish. CPCs are encouraged to communicate their experiences and any technical difficulties encountered during eBCD implementation to the Secretariat and the Standing Catch Document Scheme Working Group.
