National Technical Regulation on Iodized Salt.

This National Technical Regulation on Iodized Salt sets mandatory technical and managerial standards for the production, import, export, and trade of iodized salt. It specifies minimum NaCl purity, acceptable iodine levels (20–40 mg/kg), and strict limits on contaminants such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, copper, and mercury. It also requires that only potassium iodate be used for iodine fortification. The Regulation details testing methods, sampling procedures, labeling rules, and conformity certification. Producers and traders must comply with food safety laws, register conformity certificates, and ensure proper labeling including the phrase “iodized salt.” Agencies are assigned responsibilities for enforcement, monitoring, and updates to the regulation in line with international standards.
